Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood players celebrate with their MHSAA regional championship trophy on Saturday.

   Division 3 No. 4-ranked Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood defeated Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory 11-0 on Saturday, March 20, at Cranbrook’s Wallace Ice Arena to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association Region 21 championship.

   The game ended at the end of the second period due to the mercy rule.

   Lucas Hunter had four goals and an assist to lead the Cranes. Ishaan Patel had two goals and an assist. Isaac Cheli, Nick Juzych, Josh Ginste, Nicklas Wade, and Ethan Hellman added goals in the victory.

   Julian Zvyagin and Alex Hopkins combined for the shutout in goal.

   Notre Dame Prep advanced to the regional final when No. 3-ranked Detroit Country Day was quarantined for COVID-19. Cranbrook beat Rochester Hills Stoney Creek 8-0 in its semifinal.

   Cranbrook (12-4) advances to face Catholic High School League rival and No. 2-ranked University of Detroit Jesuit (12-3-1) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 24, at Wallace.

   Jesuit beat Cranbrook 2-0 on March 11.
