University of Detroit Jesuit players celebrate with their MHSAA regional championship trophy on Saturday.

   Division 3 No. 2-ranked University of Detroit Jesuit edged Catholic High School League and Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League rival Warren De La Salle Collegiate 3-2 on Saturday, March 20, at Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett’s McCann Ice Arena to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association Region 22 championship.

   Jesuit advances to face No. 4-ranked Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook

Kingswood in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 24, at Cranbrook’s Wallace Ice Arena.

   Jesuit led 1-0 after one period and 3-1 early in the third period. Parker Anderson scored first two goals for the Cubs. Max Marquette scored the eventual game-winner 2:34 into the third period.

   Blake Nowak earned the victory in goal for the Cubs, making 24 saves.

   Jesuit beat Cranbrook 2-0 on March 11.
